We offer classes Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at the J. Wayne Reitz Union starting at 6pm. Classes are an hour long each, and level testing occurs 15 minutes before class starts.
Our regular classes are Casino Rueda and On 1 Salsa, with variety classes rotating in. Our event and class schedule is updated regularly on our Instagram @ascendancesalsaco
Casino Salsa
Casino Salsa
Casino Rueda style salsa is a Cuban based dance style, often danced in a circle. With high group participation and partner switching in the middle of the dance, we highly encourage our students to start with Casino. We also offer a student performance team in this style of salsa!
Casino classes are at 6:15 every Monday, and at 7:30 every Wednesday after Variety Hour. We also have advanced Casino classes on Thursdays after our rotating Latin Series.
On 1 Salsa
On 1 Salsa
On 1 style salsa, also known as LA salsa, is a popular style of salsa dancing that originated in Los Angeles, California. It is characterized by its linear style, meaning dancers move along a line, back and forth, as opposed to the circular motion seen in other salsa styles like Casino. Our advanced performance team dances this style!
On 1 classes are at 7:30 every Monday after Casino Salsa. We also have advanced On 1 classes rotating in our Latin Series.
Our Latin Series is a rotation of classes every Thursday at 6:15. We rotate between Bachata, On 2 Salsa, Bachata, and Advanced On 1 Salsa.

Bachata
Bachata is one of our regularly scheduled Variety Hours, normally hosted on Wednesdays before On 1. A popular Latin dance that originated in DR, we provide Traditional, Modern, and some Sensual styles of Bachata.

Line Dancing
Line Dancing is one of our semi-regular Variety Hours, where we teach you popular country line dances! This helps with cross style training, as you will strengthen your musicality and footwork.
Shines & Styling
Shines & Styling
Shines and Body Movement helps our students to train their footwork dexterity and their timing/musicality. For more advanced dancers, we add in styling and body movement. We also are hosting a beginner shines performance team!
